Happy Holidays from Hearts for Home Care

Dear advocates,

As the holidays are upon us, I think it’s important to remember what these special times are really about: like spending quality time with family and friends, enjoying your unique traditions, and being thankful for the memories you make with those you love most. And thanks to home care, millions of medically vulnerable children, adults, and seniors are able to cherish the holidays in the place we all most want to be — at home!

I also like to use this this time of year to reflect on the moments that have passed to celebrate our accomplishments and recognize all the progress that has been made.

Collectively, H4HC had over 2,200 actions taken this year, which ranged from legislative meetings, media interviews, legislative home visits, and action alerts. And because of these actions, the states in which H4HC has an advocacy presence saw an additional $433 million in state-funding towards home-based programs. That value is astonishing!

Whether you are a seasoned home care advocate who went above and beyond this year educating lawmakers and spreading awareness or you just got started on your advocacy journey by becoming a H4HC advocate and learning about ways to make an impact, ALL of you are the reason we had so much success this year. Your efforts have helped to ensure that thousands of professional caregivers can earn a fairer wage for their difficult and compassionate work and have allowed more than 130,000 people to access better, more reliable care to stay at home.

My sincerest wish is that you take this time to give yourselves a pat on the back for all you’ve contributed in helping to support home care advocacy and for the lives you’ve positively impacted in the process. On behalf of all of us here at Hearts for Home Care, thank you.

I wish you and your family a joyous and healthy holiday season and a happy new year!

Gratefully,

Dave Totaro
